A member asked:

Any success stories when adding t3 (liothyronine) to levothyroxine treatment for hashimotos?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some yes, some no: Hi. Good question. A lot of subjective influence and personal preference. We all know it's not necessary, but some people swear they feel better, and that's part of my goal in treating patients. Of paramount importance: don't CAUSE hyperthyroidism in the process. If I add T3 (liothyronine) to l-thyroxine, I add 5 mcg in the morning. It can be adjusted, of course, depending on response and thyroid labs. Cheers!
