Inflammation: of the plantar fascia ( plantar fasciitis ) , basically the ligament running from heel to front of foot to support arch is likely. A calcium deposit causing a bony spur at the heel is also possible. See a doctor. An x-Ray might help. NSAIDs, physical therapy, cortisone injection, a shoe orthotic or night splints may help with symptoms as well as rest from sporting activities.
