Yes: There are a few different classes of medication that work on inflammation and are used as long term medications. Would discuss with your doctor regarding which medication is right for you. Also need to make sure you are taking your medication correctly. Inhaler medications can be tricky to use.

Difficult to answer: I am assuming that you have been treated with inhaled steroids and they are not working for you. Not sure about what side effects you are exhibiting. Perhaps your physician can help them with a dose reduction, or change in frequency. There are some new drugs on the market that may be of help but you must discuss this with your physician.
