One possibility: - your "coughing attacks" may just be "Allergic or Extrinsic Asthma"- which sounds what you may have, given the medications you are taking- is being triggered by an environmental allergen in your room or on your bed. Hint: Dust Mite, Dog, Cat, Mold. It may be useful to get allergy testing if you have not done so already.
