Wise guy answer: I know this may seem like a wiseguy type of an answer to you but truthfully it is exactly to your point. The patient is given dopamine in the form of carbidopa levodopa usually and we see if the dystonia gets better. Hence, the name "dopamine responsive dystonia."some things in medicine are just that easy. Want to become a doctor? Cheers!
