Sometimes weeks: It can sometimes take weeks for swollen lymph nodes in the neck to decrease in size after an upper respiratory infection. Seek care if not improving within a month, or if painful or continuing to grow. Sore throat can persist as long as there is drainage from the sinuses. Warm salt water gargle and lozenges can help.
