A member asked:

I have been taking tamoxifen 50mg for 2 months and have developed severe sciatic nerve pain. what can i do alleviate pain & is med causing side effect?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sciatica: Sciatic nerve pain is not one of the side-effects of Tamoxifen. The most common cause of sciatic nerve pain is a pinched nerve due to a herniated lumbar disc. However, breast cancer can spread to the spine and cause sciatic nerve pain. An MRI of the lumbar spine is indicated to evaluate the pain. See a spine specialist to evaluate the sciatica.
