The symptoms can be Hyper acid secretion with Reflux, Recurrent URI infection and cough and congestion. So if you can try to quit smoking your symptoms may subside to some extent. Meanwhile try taking H2 blocker like Pepcid (famotidine) AC OTC 2/day,

Acid reflux: Acid reflux can cause pain. It is more common in people with sleep apnea. Morning headaches, snoring, gasping for breathe while sleeping, grinding your teeth,obesity, constant fatigue are signs of sleep apnea. It is more common in men as they age. Talk to GI doctor about this.
