A member asked:

Can smoking marijuana lower or increase uric acid levels in blood or is there no effect?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely.: I cannot find any data to indicate that marijuana has any appreciable effects on uric acid levels (although there are also no studies that demonstrate it does not). Marijuana has been been approved for medical use for certain conditions including glaucoma and cancer, but does not have an indication for treating gout or elevated uric acid levels.
