Many things: This could be related to irritation of the breathing muscle the diaphragm. But it could be related to any of the organs located in the upper abdomen too, like the spleen or liver or stomach or gallbladder. Even an abdominal wall (muscle) strain could cause this. You haven't mentioned which side or any associated symptoms. This helps to better direct you to possibilities. Hope this helps.
