A member asked:

Vacation in jamaica last week. may have sea lice or something the same lines. how do i know for sure? if it's sea lice, do we need to see a dr?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sea lice: It's difficult to diagnose sea lice - also known as sea bather's eruption - unless trained doc that can see the actual larvae that cause it under a microscope. The diagnosis otherwise is mainly by history and exam. The rash typically involves area covered by clothing such as bathing suit or t-shirt worn in sea water where jellyfish reside. Jamaica certainly qualifies. Use Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) topical steroid
