Seizures: Myoclonic seizures occur in children and adults with generalized epilepsy. Infantile spasms (West's syndrome), is a very uncommon form of epilepsy, that begin between 3 and 12 months of age. It is one of the “catastrophic childhood epilepsies” because of the difficulty in controlling seizures and the association with mental retardation.
