My physician said that enlarged heart is typically found in left side of heart. mine is on the right. is there a substantial difference?

There is...: When only the right side of the heart is enlarged (rare) it is a sign of lung disease, severe, in your age group usually a valve problem, an abnormal communication between the sides of the heart or pulmonary hypertension... This needs to be clarified with further studies

Yes: Enlargement of the right side of the heart is often due to abnormalities on the left side of the heart. Isolated enlargement of the right heart is uncommon and usually cause by a congenital heart disease such as a shunt, chronic lung disease , or high pressure in the lung circulation( pulmonary hypertension) the latter common in women.
