You can, but...: Sleep technicians are taught to encourage patients in the sleep lab to sleep on their backs, because sleep apnea tends to be at its worst on your back. In an individual who never sleeps on his back, finding sleep apnea when sleeping on the back is of questionable relevance. Bring this up with your sleep doctor so that the sleep technician can be alerted to your situation.
