Cephalosporins: These are antibiotics that have a very broad spectrum of use for many different bacterial infections. They are often used first or second line for many common infections and have to be used with care in patients with allergies to penicillin or other cephalosporins. They can treat skin, respiratory, urinary and sexually transmitted infections among many others.

Many infections: There are many different cephalosporins including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation drugs. The cephalosporins in the different generations have different antibacterial spectra. From 1st to 4th there is generally decreasing gram positive and increasing gram negative activity. 5th generation teflaro has activity vs mrsa. Cephalosporins are used to treat a wide variety of infections.
