Maybe: It is important to establish the actual cause of the scotomas. There is a type of glaucoma called normal tension glaucoma where the eye pressure measures in a range that would be normal for others but still causes damage in the patient. Scotomas can also be caused by migraines and other neurological causes. Health of the optic nerve is first assessed with a dilated fundus exam.
