Irregular periods: The first year of periods is often irregular. If you are well beyond that, a number of things can make your periods irregular including excessive weight loss or gain, excessive exercise, thyroid problems, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Your doctor can evaluate you for any one of these or other conditions.

Get eval: 4 months without a period should be evaluated by the GYN to diagnose a possible underlying cause. Best wishes. Good luck to you, stay well.
