Dairy products is OK: Actually, nausea after the surgery can be prevented by consuming dairy products or soy milk. The calcium in these products will counter-effect the swallowed blood in the stomach. Ice cream, yogurt and milk shakes are recommended liquid foods. However, your dentist knows your medical history and medication list the best.

Once bleeding stops: Eating dairy products does not have any negative effects on an extraction site. Bite on the gauze for about 45 minutes. After that you can drink and eat soft foods. Eat softer foods for first 1-2 days, Avoid spicy foods and very hot foods. Avoid acidy and carbonated beverages.

Confused?: I see no correlation between tooth extraction and the intake of dairy products. Perhaps there was some confusion in the interpretation of the instructions. Dairy products should be avoided when taking certain antibiotics. Call and ask that this be clarified.
