The repeated : exposure of acid to the lining of the esophagus (throat) eventually can cause Barrette’s esophagus and GERD, where acidic stomach juices are more easily able to force their way up the throat usually when your laying down. Both BE and GERD are serious problems and need evaluation- and bulimia should be treated to prevent further deterioration of these issues, and to prevent other conditions.
