A member asked:

Diagnosed with anal fissure, is there any pain relief ointments that can be used? currently using glycerine suppositories.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anal fissures no fun: Anal fissures are like paper-cuts. They can bleed, hurt, & recur, particularly with defecation & other activities that increases pelvic pressure. Disorders of anal-rectal function, straining at hard stool, prolonged sitting, heavy lifting, long distance walks/runs should be avoided. If stool softeners, fiber & behavior changes don't cure, can use topical nitrate or diltiazem with anesthetic agent.
