Wound care clinic: Hi. Take your Dad to a wound care clinic for specialized attention to the wound. They have a number of options. Also, it is of course critically important to make sure his diabetes control is excellent. Poor diabetes control impairs wound healing.

Check circulation: Patients in dad's age group, especially diabetics, often have circulation problems that cause ulcers or delay their healing. He needs to be seen by a vascular specialist. Even wound care center can't help if circulation is poor. Vein problems often cause leg ulcers. Arterial problems slow healing.Most circulation problems easily fixed in 21st century. Hope this helps.
