Hard to say: For many societies, the presence of a hymen with a small opening for menstrual blood is the marker for virginity. Bloody drainage with first sex is used as proof. However, some are born without a hymen or one with a thin shelf, neither of which will bleed after sex. In some areas of the world, a surgical procedure rebuilds them. It also does not consider other forms of sex.

Tell him: If you live in a culture in which virginity is expected on the wedding night, or marriage isn't for love, you have my sympathy. The hymen is unreliable; it often looks intact even after a few episodes of intercourse, and it may not be present in a virgin. I hope that you actually love one another enough so you can tell each other the truth and is doesn't matter.

No, not physically: There is a wide range of normal anatomy, so you cannot be certain about virginity based only on physical exam. Mentally and psychologically, however, it can be hard to keep hidden, especially with people we care deeply for. If it is at all possible, I would encourage you to talk with him and be open. Marriage is largely about forgiving and being willing to be forgiven. Much love grows out of this.
