Nutrient absorption: The jejunum is the major site of absorption of digested food into your bloodstream. Food from the stomach, enters the duodenum, gets mixed with pancreatic enzymes and traverses the jejunum when much of the now small molecules are absorbed. Fortunately, except in crohn's disease, the jejunum is not a site of much pathology.

Digestion and : Absorption of food. Food reaches jejunum, the upper part of small intestine, in a state of partial processing by the enzymes from the stomach and duodenum. The digestion is completed and most of the nutrients are absorbed into the blood in the jejunum and some in the ileum, the lower part of small intestine.
