Ask your doctor: Always safest to ask your doctor about any medications you are taking to determine if there are any drug interactions. It is true that some medications can change the effectiveness of birth control pills. Good luck!

The former: Antibiotics can affect birth control and possibly decrease their effectiveness to 97 or 98% from 99. So even though they are still very effective, I always recommend adding condoms to sex when on antibiotics as you do not want to be in the 1%. Best wishes.
