Depends: There is a kind of blood infection in which yeast (Candida) grows in the blood, it is a serious complication in those whose immune system is not functioning normally or who have another serious critical illness. The organism can be detected in the blood in those cases at times. Other kinds of less serious skin or mucous membrane yeast infections do not show up in the blood. ( such as oral thrush)
