A member asked:

Could "cold flashes" instead of hot flashes be a sign of approaching menopause? i'm 46 and never skipped my period since i was 13.

Well, in fact - yes!: Falling estrogen levels can cause of both hot and cold flashes. The hypothalamus, the brain area responsible for body temperature regulation, becomes overactive. It releases chemicals that cause blood vessels in the skin to expand so heat can be released. The end result is a cold flash. So many possibilities for different women. Best wishes.
