Probably nothing: If your period came at the right time, it's probably nothing. Periods can vary month to month in amount.

Period discharge: From what you describe sounds very normal. As long as you are not having any pain (other than your cramps) no foul odor to the discharge and no fevers, I would not be concerned. Hope this helps.
