Timing off by ~2wks: Ovulation usually occurs two weeks before Menstruation. If the egg is fertilized and implantation occurs, the menstrual cycle is halted and changes occur to support pregnancy. Without fertilization, the uterine lining is shed and the menstrual cycle starts again. So, to answer your question, if "menstruation comes", it means you ovulated about 2 weeks before but didn't get pregnant.

Ovulation: Ovulation is the release of an egg by the ovary. It occurs just shy of halfway through a cycle. Menstruation occurs when an egg is not impregnated and represents proof you are or have ovulated.
