Flush or examine: The tear ducts are triggered to increase tear production in response to an irritant or foreign body in the eye within a very short period of time. After four months and no resolution, evaluation by your general pediatrician or an optometrist/ophthalmologist would be warranted.

? bothers the kid ?: If this seems to bother baby I would peal back the lash from the eyeball using a wet Q-tip and tweeze it out from its base. I do this at the office, but a sure handed parent might be able to do this at home. It will take an extra set of hands to cradle the babies head during the procedure
