A member asked:

In a rhinoplasty or septoplasty is there something that stays inside your nose like implants stay inside breasts in breast augmentations?

Unlikely: Permanent implants are not likely to be placed with either rhinoplasty and almost never with septoplasty. Ask your surgeon about his (her) technique and exactly how he (she) plans to operate. Certainly, splints and sometimes absorbable packing is used. But these are usually removable at the first post-op office visit.

Rhinoplasty: In some types of rhinoplasty, the nasal dorsum is augmented with cartilage or an implant. This is not done in every procedure.

Not usually: Implants are not usually used in septoplasty or rhinoplasty. Ask your surgeon about your surgical plan.
