Not magic...: To improve damage to lungs from smoking, can take 1 week to 1 month for EACH year you smoked. The tissues have to regenerate & heal and the white cells in the lungs have to move the "deposits" out/corral them to free up lung tissue. While likely unrelated, as a sore throat can last many days in anyone, keep up the abstinence to continue the recovery!
