A member asked:

I am a kidney transplant patient. my doctor prescribe pabapentin 300 2x per day for my neuropathic pain. should i take this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gabapentin: You mean Gabapentin? If yes, it is safe to take it.There is no major interaction with commonly used immunosuppressive meds (such as Prograf, cellcept, (mycophenolate mofetil) and Prednisone ).The dosage is dependent on your level of kidney function. If your Creatinine is elevated, you have to start with lower dose since it causes side effects in the dosage you are prescribed (such as irritability and jerky arm movements)
