A member asked:

Plavix (clopidogrel) any side effects when you stop medication?

No: Plavix (clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet drug, meaning it affects blood clotting. Upon cessation, blood clotting will revert to pre-Plavix (clopidogrel) status. Of course any Plavix (clopidogrel) associated side-effects will also resolve.

Potentially: Plavix (clopidogrel) is most commonly prescribed following angioplasty and placement of drug eluting stent. It is strongly recommended that it should not be stopped for at least 3 months after implantation unless for an emergency as the risk of heart attack is high due to blood clot. In other cases or condition that Plavix (clopidogrel) was prescribed other than coronary stent the drug can be stopped anytime.
