Not at all: The ideal heart rate is 72. The heart rate changes all the time to balance changes in blood pressure and metabolic needs of the person, and each of us have a more or less average heart rate. Metoprolol is indicated to reduce heart rate. You don't need to be concern is your heart rate is 50 at rest, and 80 when exercising or physically active.
