Hormones: The most common reason for breakthrough bleeding is hormones being out of balance. Estrogen and Progesterone are the 2 hormones that control your cycle and if they aren't in the right ratio to each other can cause some bleed. Weight (thin/heavy) and thyroid are other reasons.
