How long does prozac (fluoxetine) take to relieve anxiety? i've been on it for 7 weeks.

Timing ..: Most people often start to feel some positive effect within two weeks but may take 6-8 weeks for any significant effect. Even then, it could take longer for a significant effects as for many patients some element of titration(or increasing a medication dose) is necessary for an good drug effect.

Prozac (fluoxetine) X 7 weeks?: fluoxetine (prozac), an SSRI, is used to treat anxiety d/os, as well as depression. for some pts, Prozac will be ineffective in treating their anxiety & another med should be selected. Other pts may need a dose adjustment upward & still others may need a dose adjustment downward. If u've had no effect after 7 weeks now, sched an appt w ur doc to determine what the next steps for u should be! :)
