Many possibilities: I'm assuming the pregnancy test you took was negative? It is not terribly unusual to miss a period for many reasons-excessive weight loss or gain, increased exercise, breast feeding, eating disorders, travel, stress, illness, hormone problems, polycystic ovarian syndrome, Asherman's syndrome, illegal drug use, or medications like birth control pills can cause this.
