Breakthrough bleed: It sounds like this is breakthrough bleeding. Especially on low dose OCPs, sometimes the lining of the uterus becomes unstable and breaks down, causing bleeding. It usually corrects itself, and it does not reduce the birth control aspect of the pill. If it keeps happening, you may need to change pills.
