I was wondering does the ginseng that most popular energy drinks contain have any adverse health effects?

Not really: ginseng in the amounts present in the energy drinks does not seem to cause problems, but a lot of the other stuff, like high dose caffeine does. The vitamins are worthless in most people and are just peed out mostly, and they DONT improve anybody's energy who isn't deficient in that vitamin. A lot of the other stuff, like taurine, is of uncertain safety.

You basically are paying a lot of money for things you don't need extras of with the manufacturers brainwashing you to think you somehow benefit from these things and are potentially dangerous.

Nobody really knows: But there have been some very severe reactions to overconsumption of some energy drinks, and a handful of reports of severe reactions even with recommended dose use. However, these beverages contain lots of caffeine, which may be the major cause of problems, as well as ginseng, taurine and other vitamins, as well as sugar. Ginseng itself, in recommended doses, does not seem to have toxicity.
