Yes: Your growth rate is increased during puberty. Teens also historically tended to be more physically active so burned more calories that way as well. Unfortunately, now many sit in front of video games and don't get enough activity. But the increased growth rates do require a modest increase in calories for a few years if not overweight. If overweight, a good time to "grow into" your weight.
