Symptom control : The reality is hemorrhoids are overrated as a medical problem. They are enlarged areas of the loose lining of the rectum. It is necessary for the tissue to be able to stretch during a BM. (Think curtains.). Increases in pressure in this very vascular tissue as with straining, weight lifting, pregnancy cause this. Treatment if the cause is key or they just come back. Only severe cases need surgery.
