Nobody has one: "Low serotonin" hypothesis of depression was debuked 15 years ago. There is a lag between scientific advancement and widespread clinician recognition. Old hypothesis was assumption based due to serendipitous success with the first anti-depressants then backtracking on mechanism. Science has shown much stronger link to modulation of G proteins, 2nd messenger systems, and gene expression (CREB, etc)
