Long-running dysthymia, w/occasional episodes of major depression. also ocd and add. i bought a 10k light therapy box. can i overuse it?

No, but...: You can't overuse the light therapy except for two things. First, make sure sitting in it doesn't interfere with doing work and social outings. With dysthymia, it is important to keep social support circles going, even though you really do not feel like it very often. Second, don't use it in the 2 hours before bedtime - it will interfere with natural increases in melatonin levels to help you sleep

Light therapy: In some cases over use of Light therapy has caused individuals with a bipolar predisposition to flip into mania. Other potential problems include headaches, nausea, eye strain, agitation and problems with sleep. Blue light boxes have been implicated in retinal damage and the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
