Ringworm not a worm: Ringworm is a misnomer since it is a skin disorder produced by fungal organisms. Applying OTC antifungal agents such as Lotrimin AF, Nizoral, or Mycostatin (nystatin) cream should resolve the issue. Apply to the skin lesion including the area immediately outside the"ring" since the fungi spreads outward from the border. Avoid spread to normal skin areas by careful use of towels when drying from bathing.
