Infection vs other: Depending on gender and age, you may have urine infection even if not painful. Also, urgency happens without infection if the bladder is not emptying well e.g. Prostate enlargement, urethral stenosis, bladder atony (lazy bladder). If not a brief transient problem, need medical attention to protect your kidneys from back up flow that could slow them or even shut them down over time.
