75% Effective: Many birth control pills can be used this way. Its called the Yuzpe Method. Assuming that your pills have the correct ingredients for this method of contraception it is about 75% effective. If it happens again, you might want to consider Plan B. It is a little more effective and has few side-effects. Both the Yuzpe Method and Plan B work by delaying ovulation. They don't cause an abortion
