Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in toddlers: Two years old is the youngest age that Benadryl (diphenhydramine) should be used. The Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will be of no value in the treatment of a boil. Boils are treated by removal of the pus usually with an incision and washing it out. Antibiotics are rarely indicated. If you are using Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for another reason, it is not associated with side effects when combined with common antibiotics.

OK to give Benadryl (diphenhydramine) : Benadryl (diphenhydramine) should be fine to give with an antibiotic. The medicine is sedating so your baby will probably fall asleep after that. Look on the bottle for dosing instructions based on weight. If in doubt, try less of a dose rather than more and see what is the effect.
