Common problem: Constipation in pregnancy is very common. In the first trimester, the hormones tend to slow your bowels down. In later pregnancy, the enlarged uterus tends to push on the colon. You need to drink lots of water. Increase fiber in your diet. Consider a fiber-type laxative like Metamucil or Fibercon. A gentle laxative like Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is ok.

Fluids, fluids, : Thru out the pregnancy fluid intake is critical. EAT healthy , i.e. fruits ,vegetables salads and whole grains. Don't take fiber supplements, Drink 80-100 ounces of caffeine free/alcohol free fluid daily and go up from that especially in the 3rd trimester when all you do is urinate.
