Conserv management: During pretgnancy the abdomen markedly stretches. This causes separation of the two midline muscles, the recti, as well as pressure around midline unbilicus. The most common cause is a ventral hernia, that is a weakening of the muscles described. One should allow the muscles of the abomen to return to normal postion and strengthen before deciding if further treatment is needed.
