A few clues: Pink eye, a viral infection of the conjunctiva has the following aspects: vision is little affected, the conjunctiva (lining over the white of the eye) is uniformly reddened; there is a clear discharge (not pus), pain is trivial and may just feel like something is in the eye; there may be minor redness and swelling of the lids. If you are unsure, then check with your ophthalmologist to be sure.
